LOCAL IMPACT
STARTS WITH YOU!

Volunteers bring diverse skills, perspectives, and energy to Black River United Way by helping the organization extend its reach and deepen its impact. By actively participating in various aspects of the mission, volunteers contribute to the organization's goal of creating a better quality of life for residents in Georgetown and Williamsburg Counties.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

REAL MENTORS

Scholastic REAL Mentors read and discuss four books during (4) class visits reflecting their families, friends, communities, and concerns. Students will receive their own copies of the book to build their personal libraries.

HEROS FOR LITERACY

Heroes for Literacy (H4L) is an initiative where community members dedicate 1.5 hours each week to tutor children in reading. H4L is a volunteer experience open to individuals, companies, churches, and civic groups, that allows you to become an everyday hero in the literacy development of a child.

UNITED TO READ

United to Read is an annual event that matches volunteers to an elementary classroom all on the same day, at the same time across Georgetown and Williamsburg County.

DAY OF CARING

Day of Caring volunteers are matched to nonprofit agencies to help complete projects that these organizations may not have the capacity to take on internally. Volunteer teams are comprised of corporate colleagues, and friends.

OFFICE SUPPORT

Office Support Volunteers assist with filing, completing data entry, preparing mailings, and/or assisting with other behind-the-scenes tasks that keep the organization running smoothly.

DISASTER PREPAREDNESS AMBASSADOR

Preparedness Ambassadors engage community members by providing disaster preparedness information and presentations to youth groups, faith-based groups, and other community-based audiences.
