EMERGENCY FOOD
AND SHELTER PROGRAM
The Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) supplements and expands ongoing work of local social service organizations to provide shelter, food and supportive services to individuals and families who are experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, hunger and/or homelessness. Black River United Way serves as the fiscal agent of EFSP, and is proud to have brought this funding into Georgetown and Williamsburg counties.

UNITED FOR ALICE
For a growing number of U.S. households, financial stability is out of reach, no matter how hard their members work. These households are ALICE - Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed – earning above the Federal Poverty Level, yet struggling to afford basic expenses.

Black River United Way is advancing work with these households by funding our community’s access to data on ALICE in Georgetown and Williamsburg Counties. Additionally, BRUW’s 211 and Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) support ALICE households by connecting families with resources and funding local agencies providing basic needs.
