Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA)
The VITA program will be consistent with IRS standards with training and program management. Each site will have a site coordinator that will serve as a tax preparer, as well as serve as the point of contact for the staff and volunteers. Site coordinators are also responsible for volunteer training and compiling any required data. The site coordinators will work closely with the Black River United Way Vice President of Community Impact with weekly reports and other communications as necessary, in addition to the host sites and volunteers.

Each site also has several volunteers to prepare taxes and work with clients. Clients that have anything other than simple tax returns may opt to work with a volunteer who has Advance Certification to prepare taxes. All training and professional development for all V.I.T.A volunteer staff will be completed prior to the beginning of tax season. This training will be completed by an IRS certified person. Each program site will have a least 2 days with available hours dedicated to preparing taxes during the next two tax seasons.

Due to COVID-19 safety regulations, we will NOT be accepting walk-ins at any of our locations.
